Closing event

Camping in Zell am See/A, cycling in Bled/SI, hiking in Valle Maira/I, a city trip to Lucerne/CH or with the Mont-Blanc-Express to Europe’s highest mountain: 100 young people travelled through the Alps this summer with the “Youth Alpine Interrail” project in a climate-friendly way. On September 20th 2018, the participants talked about their adventures at the closing ceremony in the Alpine Museum in Bern/CH.

The Swiss Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard opened the event and praised the youth’s commitment to climate protection. Other representatives from politics and society exchanged views with the young adventurers on their voyages of discovery, Alpine culture and sustainable tourism. Five travel photos and five stories of the young people were awarded prizes. The different motifs and experience reports reflected the diversity of the Alps and showed that one does not have to fly to the other end of the world for exciting adventures and encounters.

Here are some impressions of this inspiring evening in Bern/CH:
